Orks
Waaagh! Banners
Ork banners that spread territory, arm buildings, and enable the relentless base-crawling strategy unique to the Ork faction.
Version: Pre-release
Overview
Ork buildings can be constructed by almost any Ork infantry unit at relatively low cost, and all Ork buildings come armed with weapons. This makes 'base crawling'—expanding forward bases across the map—a natural Ork strategy. Waaagh! Banners serve as territorial markers and production anchors, shortening the distance newly built units must travel to reach the front line.
Details
- lore background
- Waaagh! Banners are the crude but effective totems Orks erect to mark territory and rally the tribe. In Dawn of War IV, they form the backbone of the Ork expansion system, allowing the faction to spread across the battlefield rapidly and aggressively.
- campaign role
- Core faction mechanic for the Orks. Nearly any Ork infantry unit can construct buildings at low cost, and all buildings are self-armed. Waaagh! Banners enable aggressive forward bases and keep newly produced units close to the front. Ork Stratagems are also free to use, encouraging relentless aggression.
- combat specialty
- Armed buildings provide defensive fire without needing dedicated garrison units. Multiple strongholds and banners across the map create overlapping zones of control, making Ork territory extremely difficult to assault.
- first appearance
- Dawn of War IV
